About "Movin' On"
This piece celebrates newness, having "moved on" from what was past. Something everyone needs to do from time to time!
In writing this piece, it came to be like a mysterious conversation, as prayer at it's best might be. Since I wrote it in the beautiful church that I spent nearly every waking hour inside, practicing, it came alive as a story of sacred proportions. It is like a conversation with the Cross which was ensconsed upon the altar, which my eyes were always fixed upon by the mere act of playing from memory. As a conversation, it has both melody and harmony built into the same part.
For me, it has a liberating and triumphant process to it. Like life itself, it constantly flirts between amorphous mystery and blatant exultation and victory--freedom at last, by 'movin' on'.
